Darcy Bentley

Darcy Bentley

Darcie is a classically trained flutist who also enjoys teaching jazz and music of all genres. She studied with Shelley Younge of the ESO, and also attended Alberta College in Edmonton for theory, harmony, history, as well as saxophone and clarinet. Darcie has attended master classes or summer session study with Sir James Galway, Paul Sheftel (teaches pedagogy at Julliard), William Bennett, Penny Clarke, and Camille Churchfield. Darcie parlayed her four years of guitar study into an enjoyable six years playing electric bass in jr. and sr. high stage bands; and through this had opportunity to study (bass), and play (flute) with George Koller. She has been teaching students aged 6 to 50+ for over 15 years and is delighted to see her students develop their musical skills and appreciation of music. Darcie performs professionally both as a soloist and as leader of the jazz trio, Suite Nostalgia.
